    Forms are typically mailed out in January as are W-2′s from employers. I highly doubt that you will get your forms and w-2′s in time to file and receive your refund in January as well since employers are NOT required by law to have the w-2′s post markets until January 31st and 99.9% don’t! Once you have this you may file and receive your refund if you are entitled to one within 2-6 weeks typically depending on how you chose to receive the refund.

    You don’t “get” an income tax return, you FILE an income tax return. A tax return is the forms and schedules you send to the IRS.
    Maybe you’re asking about tax REFUNDS? If you get a refund, when you get it depends upon when you file your tax RETURN. Depending upon how you file, it takes from 2 to 8 weeks to receive your refund. Very few folks file their returns early enough in January to also receive their refunds in January.
    It doesn’t matter where you live, but when and how you file.
