Would Tallahassee Be A Good Choice For A Gay Person As A Retirement Choice.?
I would like to retire on the East Coast which is where I am from. I currently live in the western USA. I would like a warmer climate, no income tax, no smoking bans in place, and a smaller yet very self supporting smaller city with a lower cost of living than big metro areas. However I am concerned that as a gay person that is not out in your face about it, I will still feel uncomfortable and find little means to interact with both gay and st8 people in Tallahassee. I am finding not many places to retire too that are lower cost and meet the needs mentioned. Thanks.

I am moving from Tallahassee to Jacksonville. I want to be within a 5 to 10 minute drive of Florida Coastal (8787 Baypine Road, 32256) without getting on I-95. My #1 priority is a safe neighborhood. Ideally: small dog allowed, 1 bedroom/studio, pool & gym, $500-$700 a month, 10 month leases available. Anyone lived in such an apartment (recently) that could give me advice? What would the drive be like if I settled on a place in upper St. Augustine?
